Wire sawing

Unorthodox in appearance, wire cutting gets rid of traditional metal blades and replaces it with a diamond-infused wire. This method of cutting works by feeding the diamond-infused wire through a series of pulleys. The momentum causes the wires to reach huge speeds of around 1200 metres per minute.

This results in high speed, diamond-infused wires capable of ripping through incredibly tough surfaces, such as concrete. The wires are then assembled so that they surround the object or surface and persistently enclose it until they have cut through.

Ring sawing

Ring saws are handheld, motorised machines which, unlike common circular blades that have small, sharp teeth, instead feature a round blade with abrasive teeth. When powered, the blade reaches hugely fast speeds. The abrasive teeth on the spinning blade create friction against the hard surface, resulting in the blade penetrating and cutting through the designated surface.

Wall sawing

Wall saws fit a circular diamond blade onto a track-mounted platform to hydraulically or electrically guide the blade in a straight, vertical or horizontal line. The benefits of this method is that you receive a precise result in comparison with handheld circular saws, such as the wire saw.

Floor sawing

Floor sawing is the most commonly used diamond cutting method. A floor saw features a diamond blade attached to the base of a trolley-like piece of apparatus. The apparatus is operated by a single person, pushing the machine along and thereby cutting into the floor as they go. Floor sawing is effective on a variety of surfaces, and is commonly seen being used on tarmac roads or concrete pavements.

Wet cutting

Wet cutting uses water or other liquids to assist in the process of cutting. Wet sawing is beneficial when cutting through concrete, as the moisture reduces the amount of dust released from the cutting process.

Dry cutting

Dry cutting is the name given to the process of cutting without the assistance of any liquids. Dry cutting is much less messier than wet cutting, and is better suited to handling precise cuts and detailing. Dry sawing is recommended only for short-scale usage though, as the lack of moisture can cause the blade to overheat.
